Blue Topaz Earrings – Work In Progress
Materials: blue topaz, handcrafted gold alloys
These unique earrings embody the art of transformation.
The blue topaz came out of the earth as nearly colorless gemstones and were subsequently irradiated in a laboratory to transform them into a pale blue hue, a common industry practice; these stones have long since cooled down. The gemstones’ natural rough edges and mining marks evoke their origin story, complemented by delicate, matte facets added along the base and edges. The blue topaz are foil-backed in 18kt green gold to release an ethereal golden glow.
The body of the earrings are made from handcrafted and hand-forged 7kt gold alloy that has been depletion gilded to create a pale golden tone. Hammer marks along the edge of the gold metal riffs off of the natural rough edge of the gemstones.
The blue topaz earrings come with a certificate from the Gemological Institute of America verifying their inert state.
